Midwives of the Spirit – Elders & Ministers 15-21 April 2012

Explore and share your experiences and difficulties as an elder nurturing the spiritual life of your meeting, or of handling the leadings to give vocal ministry in Meeting or provide leadership in public witness. How do we encourage and develop these gifts in our Meetings?

Cost: $695 single room, $635 shared room

Aim: To explore the connectedness of the roles of Elders and Ministers in a local meeting.

Synopsis: This course is for experienced Elders who are involved in identifying and encouraging the individual gifts with a Meeting or other group of people.

The course will involve presentations by the leader, small group work, and individual reflection and sharing.

The course will cover:

  • The traditional nature of Quaker elders with commentary of the different styles used by Quakers in the modern world
  • Consider the gifts of an elder and of a minister, and how these differ, and yet are complementary
  • Assist participants to explore their own gifts, consider some examples from their own experience, and help each understand how they are being led to work in the future
